A year and a half ago, God took my wife and I across the ocean to the UK only to have several apostles and prophets tell us what they couldn’t know in the natural… things we needed to hear. I couldn’t help but think that God had set us up. We were told prophetically multiple times that though we had been defrauded, God would restore us and redeem the time, and the enemy would repay sevenfold. We would return like lions, but we must remember to never forget where we came from. Nothing and no one will prevent us from stepping into what God had prepared for us.
Over the last year, I started researching my family tree again; something I began doing as a teenager. Long ago, I hit a roadblock—no one had ever known where the Caris’ in our family came from beyond 1803. And in the last month, I was able to solve a mystery in a generation gap and trace our family back to the mid 1600’s in America, to Germany, and finally to Belgium and the Netherlands. DNA tests from my dad confirmed our ethnic roots.
I feel like God is restoring Kingdom heritage and reconnecting us and others to where they came from and what they carry that has been lost, forgotten, and pushed aside. God is bringing the gap of the unknown in your life and reconnecting you to where you were meant to be connected in the body of Christ. I know for a fact that God has been re-aligning and re-positioning many people in the body of Christ who are more concerned with his purpose than their own lives.
So why did God send you to where you are? Why did God plant you where he did? What was the purpose, the heart of the direction he gave you? I challenge you to dig into your roots. Where did you come from and why are you here?
Maybe you already know and you feel you’ve been limited, held back, and restricted. You may have been misguided or misdirected, but this is a year when God is redeeming the time and restoring people to his purpose. God is lifting leaders from the ashes who are ready to live for something greater—those who are willing to build the Kingdom at the cost of their own kingdom. He is restoring roots that are meant to supply, ground, and keep you planted by rivers of life. God is restoring and redeeming the years that may have seem to have been lost. And he will for you… if you dare.
