As we step into a new year, I’ve been asking God for keys to the next season. It’s a time for great grace! It’s not simply that we have entered a new year on the calendar; there are also seasons in life with God. He created the times and seasons for our good and gives us keys to navigate the days ahead. We are in the beginning of a definite shift in spiritual seasons and the key is great grace.
The word that God has been hammering into my Spirit is “Great grace! It’s a season of grace upon grace.” It may have been a short season of line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little (Isa. 28:10), but now it’s grace upon grace—grace here, there, and everywhere.
It’s grace bringing restoration to relationships, resetting opportunities, rearranging possibilities. It’s grace covering us, erasing sin, removing guilt, breaking condemnation, and defusing accusation. It’s grace to rise above and break through every boundary and every obstacle. It’s grace to grasp what has been evasive. It’s grace, grace—turning mountains into plains (Zec. 4:7). It’s great grace like a river.
The Nature Of A Prophetic Calling
My wife and I have been experiencing confirmations of this very word. When you are called as a prophet, you will find that your very life tends to become the message ahead of the season. God’s word is expressed to the world around you through your surrendered life. Like the prophet Jeremiah, God makes you live the word and model the word. Like the prophet and apostle John, you eat, consume, and change because of the word; you experience the bitter and the sweet (Rev. 10:10).
This means it’s not just the great grace that we are receiving, but also the attacks against relationships, opportunities, possibilities. We have been experiencing condemnation and accusation, both awake and in dreams. We’ve faced repeated attempts to demoralize and depress us. But just then… great grace comes flooding in. When the enemy rushed in, a flood of fresh grace has surely come.
Sudden, unexpected, well-timed grace will comfort and encourage you while flooding through you. Then you are to release that grace into the pressures all around you. It’s a season of great grace, grace upon grace. It’s grace building and rising up and through you.
Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it. (Hebrews 4:16 AMP)
The Church Is A Prophet
God wants to release great and sudden grace upon us that will overflow from our own lives and into our own world. God makes the Church as a whole His prophetic voice, the sons of God revealing God, living the word and giving it away. As one body with Christ as our Head, it is time to prophesy great and sudden grace. So take it! Great grace just when you need it! Eat the word and let it change you. Watch God’s grace flood into your own circumstances. Look and see! It’s grace upon grace!
May great grace be upon you and may your lips become saturated with the words of great grace!
