In order to live life to the fullness that God intends, thanksgiving must shift from being a season of life to becoming a way of life. Thanksgiving is a powerful and foundational element of the Christian walk which unlocks so much more for us.
Thanksgiving is a heart-sacrifice that ushers us into the presence of God and positions us for miracles as a result of focusing our hearts upon Him. It is a deliberate attitude adjustment that is crucial to walking in the maturity of Christ. Thanksgiving does many things for us. For instance, it:
* Shifts our focus toward God and all that He is (2 Chr. 7:3; Psa. 50:23) * Opens our hearts to receive from God and stay rooted in Him (Col 2:6-7) * Creates opportunity for the peace of God to rule us (Phi. 4:6-7; Col. 3:15) * Allows us to engage God with faith and expectation (Col. 4:2) * Postures us into God’s presence (Psa. 95:2; 100:4) * Positions us for miracles (Jon 2:9-10; Joh. 11:41-44; Mat. 15:35-38; Joh. 6:11-13)
Opportunity opens up to us on the hinges of thanksgiving. If we allow our hearts to lead our lives with an attitude of thanksgiving, we will find that the road ahead of us is full of hope and possibility.
Thanksgiving causes us to run toward our Father without fear or insecurities. It causes us to remember that God is good and just. It causes us to believe that He will do anything for us that He’s done for anyone before us. Thanksgiving roots us into God’s consistent nature as it builds us up under the shadow of His greatness.
