2 Requirements For Miracles & Healing

by

There are two fundamental requirements for miracles and healing. First, God’s power must be accessed. Second, God’s power must be given action by the obedience of faith.

The working of miracles is not about working to get God to move. God has already completed His work (Heb 4:2-4) and promised us all things pertaining to life and godliness (2Pe. 1:3). He also confirmed His will for our freedom and wholeness at the cross.

The working of miracles is about working your faith. It is the obedience of faith that enters into God’s rest (Heb. 4:1-2). Our work involves taking action in obedience to God according to our faith (Heb. 11:1-3).

Access God’s Power

There must be a point of contact to access and transfer the power, making it available where it’s needed. This is possible in several ways.

1. Through the ministry of the anointing.

In this case, God’s power is already present for a purpose (Luk. 4:18; 5:17). Therefore, we must remain ready at all times, sensitive to His presence and attentive to His purposes.

2. Through the prayer or declaration of faith (including prophecy and word of knowledge).

The Bible says that the power of God becomes available in response to our prayer of faith and boldness (Job 22:28). In the Amplified Bible, James 5:16 says, “… The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”

3. Through believing the Word or testimony of others from the heart.

Believing that God will do for you or through you what He has already done through Jesus makes His power available to you. Jesus said, “… whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” (Mark 11:24 AMP) He also said, “… All things are possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

Act On Your Faith

It’s the obedience of faith that gives action to the power of God. Most of the time He waits for us to act in agreement with Him, just as Jesus did. Faith is only effective when it is put into action (Jam. 2:14, 17, 22).

In Mark chapter five, there was a woman who “… heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. 28 For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well. 29 And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.” (Mar 5:27-29) “And [Jesus] said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” (Mar. 5:34)

God’s power was made available when she heard the testimonies of what God was doing for others and believed that He would do it for her. She even declared, “I will be made well.” It became effective for her when she put her faith into action.

God has not changed. If you will access God’s power and act on your faith, all things pertaining to life and godliness are available to you!

  1. I am sure the way faith takes action might vary from person to person. The way it worked for me was to choose a promise that seemed to meet a deep need in my heart and to claim it daily choosing to ACT as if it were already true! I asked myself, how would I be living if this were already true in my life? What choices would I make? How would it affect my relationship with God and with others. Then I began to behave as if it were true! Amazing stuff happened! And before long I was able to recognize that indeed the promise HAD come true for me. It didn’t always look like i thought it would when I started but was usually better and heightened my awareness that God had much more in mind for me than I had first thought! Amazing stuff!
